Diwali decoration doesn't have to mean expensive lights or fancy buys. A few colourful hanging lanterns can really change how your balcony looks. It doesn't matter if your balcony is tiny or stretches out wide; lanterns can turn it into a festive little corner without much fuss involved. Hang them along the railing, or put a few near the entrance. A small seating area looks lovely with some overhead lighting too. From colours, shapes, and designs, there's no shortage of options, so finding ones that match your home shouldn't be a struggle.

LED lights come built into some lanterns, and others will need a separate light source bought alongside them. Foldable paper and cloth versions exist as well, which are handy since they pack away easily once the festival is done. So for anyone whose balcony is asking for a little Diwali refresh, here are five hanging lanterns worth a look under ₹500 on Amazon.

Top 5 Hanging Lanterns To Brighten Your Diwali Balcony Under ₹500

1. Divyakosh Diwali Paper Hanging Lanterns with 6 LED Lights

Price: ₹375 | Customer Ratings: 4.5/5

Divyakosh offers six lanterns and six LED lights in one pack. It means your balcony gets multiple decorative pieces without hunting around for extras. The floral print adds a festive touch, and being lightweight, they're not difficult to hang up. They're foldable too, which keeps storage simple once Diwali wraps up. One more thing worth mentioning: you don't need any electrical wiring here. For homes where running extra wires around is a hassle, that's a real convenience.

Key Features:

• Six paper hangings with six LED lights

• Foldable and lightweight design

• No electrical wiring required

Why Buy:

You get lanterns and lights together in a single purchase. No separate shopping for matching LEDs is required, which saves a bit of effort on your end. You can either string all six lanterns along the balcony railing or scatter them across different corners; either way, you will achieve a balanced festive feel.

2. FI-FLICK IN Mystic Multicolour Printed Paper Lanterns, Pack of 10

Price: ₹298 | Customer Ratings: 4.5/5

Want more lanterns but also want to spend less? FI-FLICK IN's pack delivers ten printed paper lanterns in a range of vibrant colours. Each one comes in at roughly 6.5 inches, a size that fits smaller balconies and tighter spaces without crowding them. Even unlit, the printed patterns keep them looking decorative. The assembly couldn't be much simpler either. Press, fold the sides up, done, and they're ready to hang around your festive setup.

Key Features:

• Ten multicoloured paper lanterns

• Compact 6.5-inch size

• Easy press-and-fold assembly

Why Buy:

Quantity is the standout here. Ten lanterns are ideal for decorating a long railing or covering several corners at once. Being compact also means arranging them so that they don't turn into overcrowding in a small space. Want a brighter evening look? Pair them with lights bought separately.

3. Wagela Round Hanging Ball Paper Lanterns, Pack of 4

Price: ₹284 | Customer Ratings: 4.6/5

With these hanging round paper lanterns, a different shape enters the picture. Four multicolour hangings fill the pack, each one around 10 inches across. Hung at varying heights, the round form adds a sense of volume to the decoration that flatter shapes don't quite manage. Indoor parties, outdoor festivals, and other celebrations – these lanterns suit all of them. However, lights aren't included, so factor that into your decoration budget ahead of time.

Key Features:

• Four round paper lanterns

• Approximate 10-inch size

• Suitable for indoor and outdoor decoration

Why Buy:

Go for these if bigger decorative pieces appeal to you more than a cluster of small hangings. An empty balcony corner can look far more striking with just these; no need to overload it with extras. Vary the hanging height for a layered effect, and add compatible lights separately once you're ready for illumination.

4. Shree SPACE Unique Paper Hanging Lanterns, Pack of 12

Price: ₹299 | Customer Ratings: 4.2/5

With this Shree SPACE pack, you get twelve colourful paper hanging lanterns for festive occasions. They are lightweight and foldable and make seasonal decorating less of a chore. There's a traditional feel to the paper construction too, fitting right in for Diwali, Durga Puja, and similar occasions. Whether it's your home or office, it works in either setting. And since it's DIY assembly, putting the pieces together yourself becomes part of the appeal for anyone who likes setting up their own festive look.

Key Features:

• Twelve colourful paper decorations

• Foldable and lightweight construction

• DIY assembly design

Why Buy:

Got several spots to decorate but want to keep costs down? This pack handles that well. Twelve pieces means spreading them across the balcony and the entrance nearby, instead of buying multiple smaller packs separately. When the festival ends, the foldable design makes packing everything away that much easier too.

5. Partysanthe Star Print Cloth Hanging Lanterns, Pack of 2

Price: ₹449 | Customer Ratings: 4.2/5

These Partysanthe hanging lanterns come in a set of two and are made from colourful printed cloth. At about 12 inches each, these lanterns look good even in a simple balcony setup. Shape comes courtesy of the metal frame inside, while the foldable build keeps both installation and storage manageable. They're suited for Diwali or any other celebration throughout the year. Just keep in mind that LED lights aren't included, so you'll need to arrange those yourself.

Key Features:

• Two handmade cloth lanterns

• 12-inch size with metal frame

• Foldable design for easier storage

Why Buy:

Prefer cloth over paper? These are worth a look, then. The metal frame keeps its shape intact, and the larger size means they stand out from a distance. Plus, they're foldable and reusable, so there's no reason not to bring them out again for birthdays, family get-togethers, or whatever festive occasion comes next.

A handful of well-placed hanging lanterns goes further than you'd expect toward making a Diwali balcony feel festive. Filling every single corner isn't necessary. Stick to colours and shapes that complement each other, and leave enough room for people to actually move around. Looking for something affordable? Paper lantern packs give you plenty of pieces for the price, while cloth options bring a different texture into the mix altogether. The five lanterns covered here span different designs, quantities, and price points, so there's something for most needs. So, don't wait; buy them on Amazon today!
