Follow this simple 5-step hair care routine for soft and manageable hair at home
We all dream of soft, manageable hair that's easy to manage. But with daily heat styling, pollution, and busy schedules, we don't always get time to pamper our hair with the love and care it deserves. Over time, I've learned that a simple and consistent hair care routine works better than chasing expensive trends. That's why I make sure to follow my 5-step hair care routine twice a week to keep my hair strong, smooth, and frizz-free. Ready to achieve your dream hair at home? Let's get started.

I take my weekly hair care routine very seriously. And it all begins with a therapeutic hair oiling and massage session. First, mix coconut oil with olive oil and amla oil and warm it up in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Next comes a gentle detangling using a wooden comb before oiling the hair. Make sure to use your fingertips to apply the oil directly to the roots.
Give this part of the hair care ritual at least 5 to 10 minutes and use a circular motion while massaging. This may help improve blood circulation, release tension, and offer relaxation. Let the oil sit in your hair for at least an hour or more to get the best results.
The next step of my hair care routine is double cleansing. This includes using a clarifying shampoo to remove oil and scalp buildup, especially during summer. It provides deep cleansing and removes any impurities that might weigh down your hair.
After rinsing, the next step is to use a good hydrating shampoo to replenish lost moisture. These shampoos are meant to soften dry and frizzy hair, making it more manageable.
While shampooing, make sure to dilute the shampoo with water before applying. This helps reduce harshness. Next, focus mainly on the scalp and work with lather for a few seconds.

Once you are done with double cleansing, the next step is to use conditioner. This is something that I never skip. While shampoo is required for deep cleansing, conditioners add a protective layer to prevent hair breakage and improve its appearance and feel. But before applying conditioner, use a soft microfibre towel to remove excess water.
Next, apply a generous amount of conditioner from the lengths to the ends of your hair. Let the conditioner sit in your hair for 5 minutes before rinsing it off.

Hair masks provide more intense treatment than regular conditioners. Thus, I make sure to use them only once a week, especially on Sunday when I have time. Pat your hair dry after rinsing the conditioner to make sure that it's not soaking wet. Next, take a generous amount of hair mask on your hand and apply from the strands to the roots.
Hair masks may help reduce breakage, hydrate your hair, repair damage, and add a glossy shine. They also add a light fragrance to keep them smelling fresh.

The last step in my hair care routine is applying a small amount of hair serum. This simple product helps reduce frizz, add hydration, and make my hair shiny and more manageable than usual. Plus, it also protects hair from heat damage.
Healthy and shiny hair doesn't always require expensive products and spa treatments. Instead, being consistent with your favourite products and using the right technique can remove itchy buildup, reduce hair breakage, and add a shine that makes your hair look healthy. So the next time your hair wash day arrives, try this simple routine and see the difference yourself. And the best part? You can easily buy hair care essentials online as well.
